Kings of Europe – UEFA Icons
2 May – 26 May
UEFA and Getty Images are giving football fans the chance to relive iconic moments from past UEFA Champions League tournaments with the opening of 'Kings of Europe – UEFA Icons' photograph exhibition at Westfield, Stratford City.
The 'Kings of Europe – UEFA Icons' exhibition showcasing 160 iconic photographic images opens Thursday 2 May – Sunday 26 May and is free for the public to enter. The collection includes an exclusive, never seen before exhibition and images from UEFA Champions League competitions dating back to 1955, with European legends such as Ryan Giggs, Arjen Robben, Andres Iniesta and Lionel Messi at many iconic games.
The images show the evolution of photography from flashgun-and-dark-room to digital transmission from the touchline, but the images all portray the same mixture of excitement, despair, euphoria and passion familiar to anybody who has followed a top European competition.
The exhibition is part of UEFA Champions Week as the city gears up to host the biggest events in European football – the free four-day UEFA Champions League Festival taking place on The International Quarter close to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park (23-26 May)., UEFA Women's Champions League finals at Stamford Bridge (23 May) and UEFA Champions League final at Wembley (25 May).
