Spirit of Cricket
25/5/05 - 25/6/05
To celebrate the opening of the 2005 Ashes series, this show acknowledged the universal appeal of cricket around the world whether amateur or professional. Drawing on archival black and white imagery and contemporary action photography, we learn how cricket bats are made, witness famous Test moments and marvel at improvised pitches on bomb sites, industrial wasteland and the South African veldt. From W. G. Grace to “Freddie” Flintoff, the felling of willows to rolling test wickets, this show appealed to all ages.
